WONDERFEST 2006

Wonderfest 2006 was an incredible convention. This year Nurse Moan-eek and I hosted The Tingler live Saturday night - we had help pnce again from our special guest, the incredible Bob Burns, and this time the amazingly talented John Goodwin helped out as fellow mad scientist Princent Vice. Turns out Bob Burns had, unknown to him all this time, an actual tingler living inside him, and we had to perform immediate surgery to keep him alive.

After successfully removing the dreaded tingler, along with other various items such as a gas mask, chains, and the KONG armature! - we safely confined the tingler in a radioactive containment device. Bob spoke about his memories of William Castle while we watched a short film of actual footage of Bob and Kathy Burns greeting William Castle at a Texas airport, in Halloween costumes, no less, as part of their local horror host show, Shock Theater!

Paul Scioli gave away THREE Ultratumba tinglers during the show, which the crowd really appreciated. Frank Dietz gave away an original illustration of Vincent Price from the Tingler, and he also showed a short animated film he made years ago called Dr. Meatball's House of Horrors, and the funny part was it looked very much like Dr. Gangrene and Nurse Moan-eek, even down to the same catch-phrase, the doctor is in-sane. But this was done years earlier! Weird!!

The band the Exotic Ones performed live at the show, playing a set before the movie, opening the show with the doc's theme song "The Doctor in in...sane", and later on they performed an original "Tingler" song where, with Nurse Moan-eek's assistance, the crowd all "screamed" along with the band.

At some point during the festivities the tingler escaped the containment device, and, worse yet, trailed through the radioactive fluid of that device in the process.

After the show was over Doc thanked everyone and was about to wrap up the show when, from the back of the room came a blood curdling scream from a young lady in the audience. Everyone turned to see an 8ft long mutated tingler running into the theater (thanks to Eathen Allen for suffering inside the giant costume)! Doc G fought off the tingler while Nurse Moan-eek, Frank Dietz, Paul Schioli, John Goodwin and Bob Burns all tossed goodies into the crowd, while the band replayed their tingler song again - witht he combined might of the song, the doc's fighting, and the screams of the audience, the monster was defeated, and all returned to normal again - until the band played another set!! A great time was had by all, and the Wonderfest crew even printed up limited edition Dr. Gangrene cards that were handed out to everyone after the show.

Want to send out huge thanks to everyone who made this show a success - Nurse Moan-eek, Bob Burns, John Goodwin, Frank Dietx, Paul Scioli, The Exotic Ones, Eathen Allen, J. Sorrels, Wes "Graveyard Willie", Dave Conover and the entire Wonderfest crew, and anyone else I may have mistakenly forgotten. This was one fun show, and I had the time of my mad-scientific career during the night! What's in store for next year? Stay tuned!!
